For an online shop, e.g. using <a href=\"\/en\/woocommerce-agency\/\">WooCommerce<\/a>, the checklist is a little more extensive. The content has been transferred and the agency (or the in-house IT team) has declared the website ready to go live.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now is the right time to go through everything systematically \u2013 before visitors and Google get to see the new page.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-how is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"lw-lbl wp-block-paragraph\">Note<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The right time for a relaunch<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No matter how long it has taken, the day will eventually come when the old website is replaced by the new one. There are a few important things to bear in mind when choosing the right time. Very important: the relaunch should never take place on a Friday or before public holidays. It\u2019s better to do it at the start of the week, as this leaves enough time to fix any undetected errors. If the predicted downtime is long and the website\u2019s availability is critical, we recommend going live very early in the morning.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-grid is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visual representation<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We test the relevant page types and elements, such as menus and forms, using various<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Browsers (at least Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge)<\/li><li>Window sizes (responsive behaviour)<\/li><li>Devices: desktop computers from 11 to 24 inches, tablets and smartphones<\/li><li>Operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android)<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Technical role<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Do the forms work (sending, receiving)?<\/li><li>Is the anti-spam protection on forms enabled?<\/li><li>Are the active <a href=\"\/en\/plugins\/\">WordPress plugins<\/a> and is the theme up to date?<\/li><li>Are there any deactivated plugins installed?<\/li><li>Is only a standard theme (fallback theme) installed?<\/li><li>Is the PHP version up to date?<\/li><li>Have all the demo pages and demo posts been deleted?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data Protection (GDPR)<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Has an SSL certificate been installed, and are all URLs redirected from http to https?<\/li><li>Are all cookies listed in the cookie consent tool?<\/li><li>Are only essential cookies stored until the visitor gives their consent?<\/li><li>Are scripts, such as those for Google Maps or YouTube, only loaded once consent has been given?<\/li><li>Are Google Fonts loaded locally?<\/li><li>Are no further scripts loaded without consent?<\/li><li>Is the privacy policy linked to and complete?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Performance<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though the website is not yet running on the production environment, we are checking:<\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Is a caching plugin active and configured?<\/li><li>Are the images compressed?<\/li><li>Is the page speed in Lighthouse, e.g. via <a href=\"https:\/\/pagespeed.web.dev\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pagespeed.web.dev<\/a>, within the safe range?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Have the 301 redirects been set up?<\/li><li>Has an SEO plugin been installed and set up?<\/li><li>Have the title tags and meta descriptions been copied over or adjusted correctly?<\/li><li>Is the sitemap.xml file present and accessible?<\/li><li>Are the headings (at least H1\u2013H3) correctly marked up?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conversion rate<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Are all the email addresses and telephone numbers correct?<\/li><li>Are they stored as links?<\/li><li>Has the tracking been installed correctly?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><p class=\"lw-art-note wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For visual inspection:<\/strong> Online services such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.browserstack.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">browserstack.com<\/a> simulate the combination of browser, device and operating system. However, in our experience, the simulation <strong>not always 100 %<\/strong> That\u2019s true, and there\u2019s no substitute for a proper test covering the most important combinations. On top of that, there are different versions of browsers and operating systems \u2013 which means the possible combinations become very numerous.<\/p><\/div><\/section>\n\n<section id=\"nach-dem-relaunch\" class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-base-background-color has-background lw-sec lw-art has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide lw-2col lw-art-cols is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-794e3cfa wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"lw-label has-contrast-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">03 \/ After the go-live<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Review following the relaunch. <mark class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-1-color\">In the live system.<\/mark><\/h2><p class=\"lw-intro wp-block-paragraph\">Once the website has gone live, all the checks listed above should be carried out again.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is particularly true if the development environment has previously <strong>on another server<\/strong> was. In addition, the following checks are advisable in the live system.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-how is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"lw-lbl wp-block-paragraph\">Tip<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Identifying missing 301 redirects<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Enter <code>site:your-domain.de<\/code> into Google Search. The results will show only those relating to your existing website. Click on 5\u201310 links at random. Are the new pages displayed correctly everywhere, or do many links lead to a 404 error? If you see a 404 page, the redirects have not been set up correctly \u2013 in which case you should take urgent action to avoid losing valuable visibility.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-cons is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional checks in the live system<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Is the website indexable by search engines?<\/li><li>Are all 301 redirects correct (see tip)?<\/li><li>Are all emails, e.g. those sent via the contact form, being sent?<\/li><li>Does the registration process work, for example, for the newsletter?<\/li><li>Are there any errors in Search Console (Core Web Vitals)? It usually takes 2\u20133 days for these to appear.<\/li><li>Is the spam protection adequate?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n<section id=\"checkliste-shop\" class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-accent-5-background-color has-background lw-sec lw-art has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide lw-2col lw-art-cols is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-794e3cfa wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"lw-label has-contrast-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">04 \/ For online shops<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Additional checks, <mark class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-1-color\">when an online shop goes live.<\/mark><\/h2><p class=\"lw-intro wp-block-paragraph\">When relaunching a shop, for example using <a href=\"\/en\/woocommerce-agency\/\">WooCommerce<\/a>, there are three further areas in addition to the website checks.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is all about data, money and orders \u2013 mistakes are quickly spotted and directly cost you revenue.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-how is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"lw-lbl wp-block-paragraph\">Note<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Seamless data migration<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When relaunching a shop, it is important to ensure that no data gaps arise. However, closing any such gaps is not entirely straightforward. Shortly before the relaunch, the current data from the live shop must therefore be migrated to the development environment. To ensure that no new discrepancies arise between the live and development environments, the live shop must be switched to maintenance mode from this point onwards.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-grid is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Data migration<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Is all the data \u2013 such as orders, customers, vouchers and products \u2013 complete?<\/li><li>Are the order numbers sequential?<\/li><li>Are the countries and delivery options listed correctly?<\/li><li>Is the VAT rate set correctly for all countries?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Purchasing process<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Have all the required payment methods been set up correctly? (Place some test orders)<\/li><li>Are old and new vouchers taken into account correctly?<\/li><li>Are the attachments (Terms and Conditions, Cancellation Policy) included correctly?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-fcard is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Order processing<\/h3><ul class=\"wp-block-list lw-checks\"><li>Can the order be processed further, even in other systems?<\/li><li>Can parcel labels be printed \u2013 even for different delivery companies?<\/li><li>Does the refund work, for example, if I cancel?<\/li><\/ul><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>\n\n<section id=\"checks-mit-ki\" class=\"wp-block-group alignfull has-base-background-color has-background lw-sec lw-art has-global-padding is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\"><div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-columns alignwide lw-2col lw-art-cols is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-794e3cfa wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\"><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"lw-label has-contrast-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\">05 \/ Checks using AI<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Check more in less time. <mark class=\"has-inline-color has-accent-1-color\">With AI.<\/mark><\/h2><p class=\"lw-intro wp-block-paragraph\">Until now, many items on the checklist have been done entirely by hand: clicking through pages, comparing screenshots, and cross-checking lists of URLs. Today, artificial intelligence handles a large part of this work.<\/p><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI agents navigate the website just like a real visitor, comparing the old and new versions page by page and identifying anomalies that are easily overlooked during manual testing. This makes it possible to <strong>all pages rather than just a sample<\/strong> Test \u2013 before and after the go-live.<\/p><\/div><div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\"><div class=\"wp-block-group lw-art-how is-layout-flow wp-block-group-is-layout-flow\"><p class=\"lw-lbl wp-block-paragraph\">Important<\/p><h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI complements the test \u2013 it does not replace it<\/h3><p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AI identifies a large number of potential errors very quickly. We then assess for ourselves whether a finding actually constitutes a problem. Test orders, payment methods and final approval therefore remain in human hands.
